Šiauliai said goodbye to the winter

In 2024 February 12 In Šiauliai, the initiative organized by the Šiauliai Cultural Center for Mardi Gras "Fairfully Beautiful Morės Farewell" was held in Šiauliai. The celebration brought together well-wishers, residents of Šiauliai longing for spring and guests of the city. From February 9 traditionally, an exhibition of "Fearfully Beautiful Mores" was held in Kaštonai Alley, a competition was held in which as many as 35 Mores were purchased this year. On the eve of Mardi Gras, in Šiauliai's Didždvaris gymnasium stadium, farewell was said to the character who embodies winter - More. It is true that there were more than one of them - all the beauties who participated in the competition and Morė, created by the Šiauliai Cultural Center, went to Eaden.

The initiative dedicated to Mardi Gras "Fairfully Beautiful Morės Farewell" started in Kaštonų alley, where the beauties of the "Fairfully Beautiful Morė" contest were exhibited. A record number of participants decided to participate in the organized competition this year. 35 schools, kindergartens, libraries and other cultural and public institutions tried their hand. The people of Šiauliai were invited to vote for the most liked Mora on the Šiauliai Cultural Center's Facebook account by pressing "like". All the participants were exceptional and terribly beautiful, but active Internet users did not spare their votes for these Moras: the first place went to the nursery-kindergarten "Vaikystė", the second place went to the nursery-kindergarten "Eglutė" and the third place to the nursery-kindergarten "Drugelis". The organizers, admiring the originality of Morė, also chose their crush - Morė of the nursery-kindergarten "Ežerėlis". The winners were awarded prizes established by "Lazertronas", "Enter VR", "Acropolis Ledas", and "Atlantis Cinemas". All the participants of the exhibition are awarded with sweet gifts from the "Prezo" bakery.

6 p.m. Mardi Gras dress-ups with exhibition and contest participants, noisy in support of the children's and youth folklore ensemble "Vieversėlis" (conductor Arūnas Stankus) of Šiauliai's Song Music School, marched to the final point of the celebration - Šiauliai's Didžvaris gymnasium stadium. Here, together with the eerily beautiful Mores who participated in the competition and farewell party, the main More of the Mardi Gras festival, created by Šiauliai Cultural Center artist Reda Uogintienė, was traditionally burned. It is believed that together with the burnt Mores, the evils of winter will be lifted, attracting a bountiful harvest and heralding the beginning of new works.
