Jasmines bloomed in the cultural center of Šiauliai: a romantic afternoon dedicated to the day of the love goddess Milda

In 2024 May 9 An afternoon of romances and poetry "Ir prazydo jazminai" was held in Šiauliai Cultural Center, dedicated to the day of the Lithuanian love goddess Milda. The event organized for the second time by the Šiauliai Culture Center folklore ensemble "Sidabrinė gija" (artistic director Vita Taučienė-Rezgienė) brought together a large number of people who love poetry and romances - invitations were distributed instantly. The event became not only a great opportunity to escape from everyday worries, but also to enjoy sensual music and poetry.

Šiauliai Culture Center's folklore ensemble "Sidabrinė gija" nurtures not only the old traditions of Lithuanian folk art, but also the romance genre. In order to preserve the charm of this genre, the collective organized an afternoon of romances and poetry "Ir prazydo jazminai" on May 9, which brought together a full Chamber Hall of the Šiauliai Cultural Center - the audience clapped tirelessly and sang well-known works.

"Why romances and poetry?" There are people in the ensemble who create their own poetry, there are excellent readers, and that is why it was conceived to create an opportunity for those people to spread the genre of poetry. The first time it was organized, it paid off very well, because in each ensemble there were poetry lovers and poets who read their lines", Vita Taučienė-Rezgienė, artistic director of the Šiauliai Culture Center's folklore ensemble "Sidabrinė gija", shared her impressions after the event, adding that romances and blooming gardens calm heart, revives feelings and gives hope to everyone.

The ensemble "Sidabrinė gija" sings the old Lithuanian romances, which came to Lithuania in the 19th century, in order to preserve them. The collective has 10 old Lithuanian romances in its repertoire, two of which were performed at the event "Ir prazydo jazminai": "Do you see how the apple tree is drowning in the blossoms" and "Under the silver moon". Other collectives sang romances by contemporary authors during the event.

The organizers are happy with the active participation of the collectives and thank the vocal ensemble "Dainora" of the Šiauliai Cultural Center (artistic director R. Majauskienė), the performers and readers of the Rudiškii romances of the Joniškis district, as well as the Pakapė romances performing group "Vėjūnė" of the Bridų branch of the Šiauliai district municipal culture center (director J. Muliarchik). The afternoon was enriched by the disabled vocal ensemble "Ringuva" of the Kužia hall of the Kužia hall of the Šiauliai district (conductor K. Lučinskaitė), the ensemble "Rudens ziņžai" of the elderly people's association (conductor A. Treinauskienė) and the association of Šiauliai city poetry and other arts lovers "Arts source" romance group "Darna" (director V. Nausėda).

The culmination of the afternoon was the piece "Jazminai" performed jointly by all groups and the audience, which did not leave anyone indifferent. When the last chords sounded, the hall did not stay silent for a long time with a standing ovation, thanking them for an unforgettable evening.
