The regional song festival "Teka saulelė" brought together two and a half thousand participants

In 2024 June 1 The long-awaited regional song festival "Teka saulelė" took place in the heart of Šiauliai's central park - on the stage. The program of the event included the songs of the 100th anniversary song festival "Kad giria žaliautų", the song "Kad giria žaliautų" of the Song Day, and the music of the brass band concert "Vario audra". The celebration brought together about 2,500 participants, of which more than 80 choirs, brass bands and choreographic groups spread the beauty of 34 pieces of music and created a special atmosphere.
The organizer is the Šiauliai Cultural Center. The partner is the Lithuanian National Cultural Center. The event is financed by Šiauliai city municipality. Informational sponsors: Lithuanian National Radio and Television, media group "Etaplius", "Šiaulių krastas", "Miestos naujienos", "Owexx".

Šiauliai once again proved a strong connection with the past while creating the present - the regional song festival "Teka saulelė" did not leave anyone indifferent. Rehearsals have been taking place on the stage of the central park of Šiauliai since the morning. In the evening, crowds of people were already flocking to the largest stage in the region, decorated with impressive-sized gardens and floristic decorations. The extraordinary celebration gathered both large and small spectators. Aušra Brijūnienė, coordinator of the regional song festival "Teka saulelė", head of the amateur art department of the Šiauliai Cultural Center, did not hide her excitement even after the event, but this feeling came from joy. "The entire creative group is very happy that such a beautiful, big and meaningful celebration took place in Šiauliai after so many years. It was a big creative and technical challenge for us, the organizers, but we really organized a big, beautiful celebration. As in the last song "Our days as a holiday", which was played in our program - today the holiday was in Šiauliai, thank you to everyone", event coordinator A. Brijūnienė shared her emotions.

A family from Šiauliai, who came to the celebration with their children, also shared their impressions. "We are very happy to visit the song festival. The children were impressed by the music and dance, and we ourselves were filled with positive emotions and are even more proud of our city", - a young family from Šiauliai shared their impressions after the event.

The event featured works from the repertoire of the Lithuanian Song Festival program, with the exception of one - the piece "About Light" by Gediminas Dapkevičius from Šiauliai, which was included in the program of the regional song festival. The performances of the participants impressed the audience with their professionalism: from the vigor of the youth choirs to the skillfully performed works of the experienced ensembles. A total of 82 collectives from all over Lithuania created an unforgettable spectacle for the audience. Of them, as many as 35 collectives from Šiauliai. 61 choirs, 16 brass bands, 5 choreographic groups and 1 percussion ensemble performed at the festival.

Together with the regional song festival "Teka saulelė" on June 1, a photo exhibition dedicated to the centenary of the song festival was presented. The open-air exhibition depicts the hustle and bustle of the song festivals of long ago. The organizers are happy that the people of Šiauliai also shared the recorded moments. This exhibition once again proves that each of us, contributing at least a small part, can contribute to significant events, create and foster them together. It is reported that the photo exhibition will be open until August 18.

A whole bunch of people who know their job contributed to the preparation and implementation of the celebration. The organizers of the event are happy that last year they managed to create an image that reflects the identity of the city of Šiauliai and the regional festival "Teka saulele", which became perfectly recognizable and used, and decorated the festival this year as well. Its author is Vilmantas Dambrauskas, a well-known designer from the city of Šiauliai. The creative group of the regional song festival "Teka saulelė" in 2024. consisted of the festival director Deimantė Bačiulė, artistic director and chief conductor Remigijus Adomaitis, deputy artistic director, conductors Birutė Janonienė and Mindaugas Žalalis. Director Vygantas Kazlauskas and scriptwriter Jovita Lubienė are thanked for their directorial decisions. Remigijus Vilys, the chief conductor of wind instrument orchestras, Mindaugas Kosaitis, ballet masters Lilija Bernatavičienė, Ugnė Zanevičiūtė-Audejava, Sonata Jankienė also made a great contribution to the creation of the festival program. Festival coordinator Aušra Brijūnienė, visualization artist Irmantas Myniotas.

It is hoped that the regional song festival "Teka saulelė", which went off with a bang, will inspire further regional song festivals in the future, which are an integral part of our nation's culture.
