On July 6, Šiauliai residents are invited to a host of events

In 2024 July 6 In Šiauliai, the State Day (the coronation of King Mindaugas of Lithuania) and the National Anthem will be celebrated. It has already become a tradition to make this day meaningful in the city with many different events. The citizens of Šiauliai and the guests of the city will be waiting for a solemn ceremony of raising the flag of the state of Lithuania, concerts, an excursion, free visits to museums and exhibitions, and the general singing of the "National Anthem" will end the celebration. The organizers hope that the rich program will not only remind us of our historical journey, but also give us the opportunity to be proud of Lithuania.

On July 6, we will celebrate the 771st anniversary of the coronation of the only king of Lithuania, Mindaugas. In 1253, becoming a part of the Latin medieval European political system, we created a united Lithuania, which was recognized not only by us, but also as one of the oldest continents. In 2009, to commemorate the millennium of the name of Lithuania, a beautiful idea was born to sing the "National Anthem" all over the world at the same time. The gradually formed tradition proving the unity of Lithuanians in the world became an inseparable part of the 6th of July, so in 2019 the legalized name of the State (King Mindaugas coronation) and National Anthem Day officially united the country's scattered patriots.

"July 6 marks the beginning of our statehood. I invite you to celebrate this day, be proud of it, participate in cultural events and sing the "National Anthem" together with all Lithuanians around the world, - urges Daina Kinčinaitienė, head of the Culture Department of the Šiauliai City Municipality Administration.

The commemoration of July 6 in Šiauliai will traditionally begin with St. Mass at St. in the Cathedral of the Apostles Peter and Paul. After the mass, at noon, a solemn ceremony of raising the Lithuanian state flag will be held in Resurrection Square. This year, the tricolor will be raised by national artist, national heritage nurturer Bronė Gricienė. Artist Ingrida Ručinskienė will present her musical works.

Immediately after the official part of the event, at 12:30 p.m. A concert of original songs by actors Oleg Ditkovskis and Saulius Bareikis at the Šiauliai Boulevard Amphitheater (Vilniaus St. 153) will invite listeners to immerse themselves in a musical journey full of sentiments.

1 p.m. Šiauliai chamber orchestra "Camerata Solaris" (artistic director and conductor V. Čepinskis) will present the concert "Likimos symphonija" in the hall of the concert institution "Saulė" in the city of Šiauliai.

7:30 p.m. the audience will be waiting for the opening concert of the 21st International Chaim Frenkel Villa Summer Festival, where the electronic music rock group "Royce" and the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra (artistic director M. Bačkus) will perform.

In the evening, at 9 p.m. The "National Anthem" will be sung in the park of Chaim Frenkel's villa together with Lithuanians from all over the world.

On July 6, there will be more initiatives prepared by the institutions and organizations of the city of Šiauliai, it will be possible to visit the branches of the Šiauliai "Aušros" museum, the Šiauliai city cultural center "Laiptų galerija" and the Šiauliai art gallery for free.
