The harmony of words and music flooded the shore of Lake Rėkyva

In 2024 July 18 The first day of the word and music festival "And the lake has ears" took place on the shores of Lake Rėkyva. On Thursday evening, the festival was opened by a special sound experience of the "Waters" project and a unique performance by the three creators "Jonvabalių sonatos". The organizers of the event were happy that the festival, which returned to Rėkyva, allowed residents of Šiauliai and city guests to enjoy not only a dose of good music, but also invited them to enjoy the magic of the Lithuanian word at the poetry exhibition "Mintys bangose".
The organizer is the Šiauliai Cultural Center. Financed by: Lithuanian Culture Council and Šiauliai City Municipality. Friends - Hotel-Restaurant "Žvejų užeiga" and "Šiauliai Deaf Center". Image of Eglė Narbutaitė. Events are free.

On Thursday evening, residents of Šiauliai and guests of the city gathered on the shore of Lake Rėkyva, where the word and music festival organized by the Šiauliai Cultural Center "And the lake has ears" took place. The event started with the project "Waters" created especially for this festival by the artist and creator of contemporary electronic music "nim". The unique work involved the townspeople in a sound experience that felt not only the memories of the 2000s, but also the labyrinth of cultural speeds, time cracks, breaks and continuity.

Later, the exceptional stage was decorated with a truly impressive performance of "Jonvabalii sonatas" by three creators (lyricist and performer - actress Lina Jankauskaitė-Peleckienė, electronics, saxophonist - Nedas Latovinas, cellist - Ilona Butkutė-Gasickienė). Here, deep words and the sounds of instruments that transport you to dreamy moments flooded the shores of Lake Rękyva with a wave of electronic music. The performance was translated into sign language by the Šiauliai Territorial Department of Lithuanian Sign Language Assessment.

On the same evening, the event was given a breath of fresh air and the lake bridge was decorated with the poetry of people who are indifferent to creativity, in which not only young talents dared to participate, but also members of the Šiauliai Deaf Center community. The poetry exhibition "Mintys bangose", which will be on display for all three days of the festival, exhibits works whose source of inspiration was water in one way or another.

This year, the festival can be enjoyed almost the entire weekend, because on Friday on the shore of Lake Talkša from 7:30 p.m. the interactive mono-performance "Avinai" (directed by Justas Tertelis) will be waiting. Actor and playwright Raimondas Klezys, who will appear on stage, will explore sensitive topics that are close to both teenagers and adults. Immediately after the performance, at 9:20 p.m., music performer and creator Remis Rančys will give the audience a "Green Concert".

Saturday evening from 7:30 p.m. On the banks of the Prudeli pond, the audience will be waiting for the concert of the group "Kopanugaris". Here, young performers from Klaipėda promise not only a good mood, but also music that will take everyone to the sunny and warm sea. Solo's post-electro-flamenco music and dance performance "Human, Lost & Found" will extend the evening and close the festival cycle. An artist from France will try to influence the people of Šiauliai and the guests of the city by combining performance art, dance, music and theater.

The entire program of the speech and music festival "And the lake has ears" can be found on the website of the Šiauliai Culture Center (www.siauliukc.lt).
